I have super greasy skin that I’ve been battling for almost 2 decades. When I was living in a more arid climate, my greasy skin can be a godsend ( I think I was the only one among my friends who didn’t have dull, grey skin every winter) . And if I took good care of my skin, eat my vitamins and never miss my appointments at the dermatologist’s, my skin looked decent on most days.
That was a long time ago. Now that I spend most of my time in lovely Kuala Lumpur, I’m beginning to have …skin issues. Namely, uber-greasiness. I’m not joking that while watching the clean-up effort that the BP Oil Disaster has visited on the Gulf of Mexico, I actually googled oil dispersing agents, wondering if maybe some milder form said agents can be found in today’s skincare products, and if it did, I would be the first one to rush out and get it.
Anyway, I didn’t find any such products. But I found something better, and by complete accident as well. Dr Brandt’s Pores No More Pore Minimizer!
I seriously seriously love this product. I first got a sample at Ken’s Apothecary while buying my toner and I thought, who is this Dr.Brandt? I googled him and he kinds of looks like he needs to slow down on the plastic surgery. Should I try products from a guy who looks like that?
Well, never judge a book by its cover. Or a dermatologist from his face-lift . Because the Pore Minimizer just sucks up the grease….for hours… an hours… well at least 5-6 hours.
I was really astounded how the Pore Refiner kept my face looking matte for hours (tip: I wore it under my makeup, and I also used loose powder) so I went online and did some fact-checking:
How It Works: The Pore Refiner blends multiple silicones that works to fill in pores and keeps absorbing oil. Aaahh. And apparently according to Cosmetic Cop Paula Begoun* – it has more silicones than she has seen in any single similar product.
So there you go. I seriously recommended this to anyone with oily skin. The only drawback is the price tag. It’s RM150 for 30ml ( I think it would last about a month if you use it everyday)
If anyone knows of a similar product albeit a more purse-friendly one, do email me and let me know : )
* In Paula Begoun’s review of the product, she gave this product a bad review – not because it doesn’t work but because it contains lavender oil and because it’s expensive. But she admitted she would have recommended this product if not for the two reasons mentioned. I don’t know anyone who is allergic to lavender oil, so I think if you aren’t, it isn’t an issue either.

i too have big pores but the only thing i have found to be a miracle is the RMK cream foundation to hide them.my Holy Grail foundation .It cost RM179 but its worth it because you only use a 10 cent coin size.
For skin products i heard Mint Julep Mask is the best mask to tighten pores. Gonna get that in the future.
Will review the RMK soon on my blog http://www.leopard-fetish.blogspot.com =D
Heidi
thanks for the tip! will definitely try out RMK ; )
